Children celebrating at the American bases

A few years ago I went to open day at Seething Control Tower Museum in Norfolk see here, where I got talking to a lovely lady called Pat who’d been a child during WW2 and had been to celebrations on the nearby Seething airbase where the Americans were stationed. She told me about how the children had been collected from school in the big trucks and taken to the base where they’d been amazed by the magnificent spread of food so different to the rationing of the British.
